Dream Title: See China's Clay Army

See China’s Clay Army

What it is: For over 200 years a secret army of over 7000 clay soldiers has protected the hidden tomb of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Hunag. Finally discovered in 1974, these soldiers were not stamped from a mold, but each one is individually modeled from local clay. Possibly each is a unique portrait of a member of the emperor’s army. The army was originally armed with bronze swords, spears and bows, but soon after their burial a revolution broke out and the rebels broke into the vault to steal the weapons. The vault also includes over 600 horses and 100 life sized, working, wood chariots.

Where it is: It is located in the Black Horse Hills of Shaanxi Province in central China.
