Go to the Top of the Empire State Building
The Empire State building is located in New York City. Until 1972 it was the tallest building in the world. It has 102 floors and is 1453 feet, 8 9/16 inches high. It took one year and 45 days to build and used 7 million man hours and was built in 1930 and 1931. On a clear day, from the top you can see New York of course, plus Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Jersey.
The Empire Sate Building is struck by lightening an average of 100 times a year.
You will encounter 3 lines. The first is a security check followed by a ticket line. Last you will queue up for the elevator. Plan about 2 hours to be at the top. Total time will depend on the crowd. You can buy tickets online or at the building. Adult tickets are about $17.61, youth $15.76, child $12.07 and seniors (62+) 15.76 + tax. There is an additional $2.00 surcharge.
